A weather pattern change is on the way as tropical moisture streams north


Good evening.  The dry weather is about to come to an end as tropical moisture moves into the region.

It was dry again this afternoon and we will see one more sunny and dry day for Friday with afternoon high temperatures in the low to possibly middle 80’s.  Take a look at our climate data for today for the Tri-Cities Airport.

Take a look at our temperature trend into the weekend.  Clouds and rain will cool us down.

High pressure will keep us dry tonight and Friday.  Take a look at the Storm Team Forecast maps.

8 AM Friday – We wake to sunny skies and mild temperatures.

Noon Friday – Sunny skies and warm temperatures are forecast for the region.

5 PM Friday – Fair skies and warm with readings in the 70’s.  The weather will be beautiful for area high school football games.

We have two areas of tropical moisture that will bring us rain.  The first batch of moisture gets in here Saturday afternoon.  Tropical Storm Nate could become a hurricane a bring more moisture to the region Sunday into Monday.

10 AM Saturday – Clouds increase with warm temperatures.  Showers will be possible across the Carolina’s.

5 PM Saturday – Mostly cloudy skies with scattered showers possible.

5 AM Sunday – Tropical moisture will surge north ahead of a cold front.

10 AM Sunday – Showers and storms will be possible.  Notice the moisture across Mississippi and Louisiana as Nate moves north.

3 PM Sunday – Clouds, showers and possible thunderstorms will be likely.

7 AM Monday – We keep the chance of showers and thunderstorms across the region.,

Take a look at the projected rainfall totals through Sunday afternoon.  Some areas could see one to three inches of rain through Monday.

Here is a look at Tropical Storm Nate.

Nate could become a hurricane and move into the Gulf this weekend.  The storm could impact areas from Florida to east Texas.  This storm will be welcome news for the Tennessee Valley as it should bring us rain.

The weather will be beautiful for area events on Friday.
