Clouds tonight and Wednesday with scattered showers and storms

Good afternoon.

We certainly have seen variable cloudy skies across parts of the area this afternoon.  Take a look at this visible satellite from College of DuPage.  You can see the clouds across much of the Tennessee Valley.

If you take a look at our upper air charts today the flow pattern continues to bring clouds into the area tonight and tomorrow with scattered showers and thunderstorms.

This is what we call the 500 MB chart – About 18,000 feet up.  Notice the big ridge of high pressure in the west.  That is really going to bring hot temperatures to the Pacific Northwest.

Here is a look at the 300 MB Chart.  This is where the jet stream is found at about 30,000 feet.  Notice that the winds across Tennessee are from the west, northwest which is why we have the clouds across parts of the region this afternoon.

We keep the warm temperatures through the end of the week with a slight cool down into the weekend.

Take a look at our forecast maps for tonight and Wednesday.  We will keep variable cloudy skies with scattered showers and a few thunderstorms.

8 PM Tonight – Scattered showers will be possible.

Midnight – We keep variable cloudy skies in the area.

8 AM Wednesday – Look for a mix of sun and clouds with mild temperatures.

Noon Wednesday – Scattered showers and a few storms will be possible.

4 PM Wednesday – Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across parts of the region.

Thursday looks nice for the area with partly cloudy skies and just a very slight chance of a shower.  This map is for 8 AM Thursday.

3 PM Thursday – Scattered showers and storms to our northwest.  Watch the cold front from Iowa to Oklahoma.  This will bring showers and storms to our area on Friday.

8 AM Friday – We start the day with partly cloudy skies, but watch the cold front move across the state through the afternoon.

4 PM Friday – Showers and thunderstorms will be possible as the cold front moves in from the west.  There could be a few strong storms across the region Friday afternoon and night.

Here is a look at the Storm Team 7-Day Forecast.  We will see scattered showers early Saturday with dry weather on Sunday.

Look for more showers and thunderstorms Monday into Tuesday.

Have a great night!
