Man, 19, killed crash on Unaka Springs Road in Unicoi County

UNICOI COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – One person is dead after an accident on Unaka Springs Road in Unicoi County. The Unicoi County Sheriff’s Office along with the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to the crash.

It happened around 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.  Unicoi Sheriff Mike Hensley told News Channel 11 those who were hurt had to be airlifted to area hospitals.

According to a report from THP, the crash involved a 1992 Ford Ranger pickup driven by a 19-year-old Eduardo Martinez. His passenger, 19-year-old Alan Meza died in the crash.

The cause of the crash is unknown this morning. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is also investigating this crash.

The report indicates that a toxicology test in pending and no seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.
