Man accused in 2015 arson-related deaths pleads guilty to second-degree murder

SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The man charged with setting fire to a home which killed a Kingsport couple has pleaded guilty to those charges.

The Sullivan County District Attorney’s Office said Paul Robinson pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder in the deaths of Debra Morrison and Richard “Ricky” Jenkins in April 2015.

Police said Robinson set a vacant home on fire on East Sevier Avenue, knowing Morrison and Jenkins were inside at the time.

Robinson also pleaded guilty to especially aggravated robbery and aggravated arson.

He was sentenced to 35 years in prison.
