Richlands falls to Appomattox in 2A state championship

SALEM, VA- The Richlands football team fell to Appomattox in the 2A state title game on Saturday 42-7.

Appomattox, unbeaten heading into the game, jumped out to a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter. Richlands struck in the 2nd quarter when Dillan Elswick found his way over the goalline to cut the defict to just 7.

But that would prove to be the lone touchdown of the game for the Blue Tornado, with Appomattox scoring 28 straight points to close out the game.
