HARLAN, Ky. (WATE) – A mother in Harlan County has been charged with the murder of her two-month-old child.
Sierra Foster, 23, is charged with murder, first degree criminal abuse, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Kentucky State Police say Harlan County deputies were assisting social services with a welfare check on Eastbrook Station Road when they found the child dead inside the home. Social services had received a complaint about the mother, Sierra Foster, being under the influence and unable to care for the child.
The preliminary investigation indicates Foster had not cared for the child for at least 12 hours. An autopsy is set to be performed on Wednesday. The case is under investigation.
