Death toll from Gatlinburg wildfire rises to 14

14 confirmed fatalities and over 1600 confirmed structures lost

GATLINBURG, TN (WKRN) – The death toll from the Sevier County fire has risen to 14.

According to the National Park Service, the latest victim to be identified is 81-year-old Elaine Brown of Sevierville.

She died in a multi-car accident while trying to flee the fire. Officials say she suffered a medical episode before the crash.

Of the fourteen deaths, 12 victims have been identified. Those victims are:

Constance Reed, 34
Lily Reed, 9
Chloe Reed, 12
Jon Summers, 61
Janet Summers, 61
Reverand Ed Taylor, 85
John Tegler, 71
Marilyn Tegler, 70
May Vance, 75
Bradley Phillips, 59

A total of 134 people were injured,1,684 structures were damaged or destroyed in the wildfire.

On Monday, Gatlinburg city officials will continue to assess the damage as the city prepares to open for business later this week.
