ETSU student hit by car on campus

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Emergency crews took an East Tennessee State University student to the hospital after dispatch said he was hit by a car Wednesday.

It occurred on Southwest Avenue.

A man, who ETSU officials confirmed is a student, was loader onto a stretcher at the scene.

JCPD Sgt. Terry Hardin said the student tried to run across the road in the heavy rain and the driver couldn’t stop. There wasn’t a crosswalk where the student was attempting to cross the street.

It appeared as though the student went into the windshield and appeared alert. The student’s injuries did not appear to be lift threatening.

Johnson City police are investigating.
