Gatlinburg Wildfire: How you can help

This is a list of places that are accepting donations to help those impacted by the wildfire in Sevier County. If you know of any others, email us at news@wjhl.com.

Sullivan Baptist Association is gathering needed items for residents, tourists, and others displaced and troubled by the disastrous wildfires and high winds in the Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and surrounding areas of the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Items needed as requested by the Blount County Chamber of Commerce are listed below:

  • Gatorade or Plastic Bottled Sports Drinks
  • Canned Foods
  •  Non-Perishable Foods
  • Pet Foods
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • New Jackets
  • New Gloves
  • New Scarves
  • New undergarments for all ages
  • Gift Cards ($5 – $25 value) to Lowes, Home Depot, and Wal-Mart

Drop-Offs will be accepted between 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. through Friday, December 2, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. (noon.)

Senior Service at Memorial Park Community Center, 510 Bert St., will host a blood drive on Monday, Dec. 5. The Blood Assurance mobile unit will be on site from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Donors must weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health. Anyone donating blood should consume fluids, avoid caffeine and eat an iron-rich meal prior to donating. Call 423-434-6237 to make a reservation.

First Tennessee Foundation has announced matching gifts of up to $50,000 for donations made to Red Cross at First Tennessee locations across the state.

-South Holston Rescue Squad – Community Drop Off Station for food and water donations for emergency response agencies fighting the Gatlinburg fires.

Pro Tint (3790 Fort Henry Drive in Kingsport) is currently collecting supplies to be delivered to Sevier County, Tennessee to aid fire victims and emergency workers.They will be accepting donations all night long with plans to depart for Sevier County Wednesday morning or whenever their rental moving truck is full.

Supplies that are being accepted include, but are not necessarily limited to the following:

1) Bottled Water

2) Bottled Sports Drinks (Gatorade, Powerade, etc.)

3) Pet Food

4) Baby Diapers and Wipes

5) Toiletries

6) Batteries

7) Cleaning Supplies

8) Work Gloves

9) Anything that might be useful for this type of disaster

– Dr. April Burg in conjunction with the Red Cross and TEMA is accepting donations.
You can drop items off at Family Chiropractic Clinic (1906 Knob Creek Rd Suite #1) Monday-Friday 9a-6p (closed for lunch 12-1) The office will accept donations until there is no longer a need. Any overage of donations will be donated to the local chapter of the Red Cross and distributed in our region. Items you can donate  include but are not limited to: Bottled Water, Gatorade, Diapers, Toiletries, Baby Formula, Blankets, etc.You can also help by volunteering your time to help pack and sort items for donation.

Water, sports drinks, band aids, blister kits, blankets, eye drops, tissue packs, ink pens and notebooks, Crayons and coloring books for the kids.

Greene County YMCA will be accepting donations for fire relief efforts.The supplies donated will help not only the Gatlinburg community, but will also help support our own local fire-fighters who are assisting.Items we are currently accepting are water, Gatorade, personal care items and hand held snacks. Please NO clothes. Donations will be accepted through Friday at 5:00 p.m.
