Crews spend Thanksgiving Eve fighting Tiger Creek wildfire on Roan Mountain


ROAN MOUNTAIN, TN (WJHL) – Tennessee Department of Forestry crews and other local emergency crews are responding to a large forest fire in the Tiger Creek area of Roan Mountain.



The fire is reportedly burning near a couple of homes in the area.

A News Channel 11 reporter on-scene said he saw crews preparing a perimeter to keep the fire away from the homes.

State forestry crews, as well as Roan Mountain Volunteer Fire Department and Carter County Sheriff’s Office have responded to the scene.

Crews told News Channel 11 late Wednesday night that the fire started around 3 p.m. and burned 60 acres by 11 p.m.

The fire is being considered suspicious.
