(WJHL) – The governing body for Tennessee high school athletics ruled Unaka High School ineligible to participate in any football playoff series for the next two years.
The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association appealed a ruling against Unaka’s basketball program that banned the team from participating in post-season tournaments due to the football team forfeiting a playoff game against Greenback High School earlier this month.
Kevin Ward, the director of schools, told News Channel 11 school officials would be in Nashville appealing the decision against the basketball team.
Friday morning, the TSSAA said “ (1.) Unaka High School’s football program will not be eligible to participate in the football playoff series during the 2017 -2018 and 2018-2019 school years. (And) 2. The Unaka High School boys’ basketball program has been reinstated and is eligible to participate in the post-season tournament series.”
