Unaka H.S. officials appealing ruling impacting basketball program after football team forfeits playoffs

(WJHL) – Leaders from Unaka High School were in Nashville Thursday trying to appeal a ruling from the TSSAA saying the Unaka High School Boys Basketball program will not be allowed to participate in the basketball post-season tournament series.

This comes after the Unaka High School football team forfeited its playoff game against Greenback High School earlier this month.

Kevin Ward, the director of schools, said after the team forfeited, they would be traveling to Nashville to appeal the decision not to allow the basketball team to play.

We will continue to follow this story and bring you updates as they become available.
