WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A Washington County Commissioner is preparing to resign from the commission later this month.
Joe Wise is serving his first term on the board, but recently became a commissioner-elect for Johnson City.
Wise said he plans on submitting a resignation letter by Nov. 28 when the county commission next meets.
He said it’s a personal decision to step down to ensure that he can give his full attention to the City Commission where he thinks he’ll have a greater impact.
The Washington County Commission chairman said once Wise’s resignation goes into effect it will probably take about two months for the commission to appoint a replacement.
