ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) – The Elizabethton Police Department has a new police chief.
According to a news release issued Wednesday, Interim Police Chief Jason Shaw was offered the permanent position and Shaw accepted. He was appointed as chief of police on Wednesday.
Shaw has been with the EPD since 1999 and has served the Elizabethton for more than 17 years.
He was promoted to sergeant in July 2005, promoted to captain in November 2008 and was appointed interim chief of police on Sept. 19.
According to the release, Shaw has also served in the criminal investigations division, patrol division and is part of the city’s specialized response team.
Shaw also served as the fire chief for Stoney Creek Volunteer Fire Department. He resigned from that position when he took over as Interim Police Chief in September.
