JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) – A longtime law officer in Northeast Tennessee was unanimously confirmed as the new police chief of Jonesborough in a board meeting Monday night.
Town Public Safety Director Craig Ford said the vote by board of mayor and aldermen to name Ron Street as police chief was unanimous.

Street started with Johnson City police in 1973 and retired from the department in 2003 as chief of police. He then became the Carter County sheriff’s department chief deputy in 2006 and was there until 2014.
Street should begin his new duties within the next two weeks.
