Tri-Cities to be placed under Air Quality Alert Saturday

Smoke

TRI-CITIES, TN (WJHL) – The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation will issue an Air Quality Alert for the Tri-Cities region Saturday.

Chattanooga, Knoxville and the Great Smoky Mountains will be included in the Code Orange Alert meaning the general public likely will not be impacted but those with heart and lung disease, older adults and children are at greater risk due to the smoke.

TDEC says the Alert is prompted by wildfires in the plateau and the Great Smoky Mountains that intensified Friday.
