SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN  (WJHL) – The Sullivan County Schools is dismissing Sullivan South High School today at 10:30 a.m.

School officials told News Channel 11, students are being released early due to a power outage.

News Channel 11 talked to Evelyn Rafalowski, Director of Sullivan County Schools over the phone.
She says Appalachian Power thinks a power pole on the school’s campus had cables that were somehow disconnected or worked themselves loose — possibly due to weather or other reasons.
The power outage is affecting 50% of the building – in particular, the school loss power in the cafeteria, thus affecting school’s ability to serve lunch.
AEP estimates it may take 2 to 3 hours to fix the problem.
Evelyn More anticipated that school will be in session on Friday.
