Rolling Thunder raising money to lay Christmas wreaths on gravestones at VA Cemetery

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- Rolling Thunder members here in the Tri-Cities want to make sure veterans buried at the VA cemetery in Johnson City have a Christmas wreath on their graves this holiday season.

wreathsRolling Thunder began partnering with Wreaths Across America back in 2011. Last year, Rolling Thunder was able to lay more than 6,000 wreaths. This year, the organizations are hoping to get 17,000 so that they can put a wreath on each gravestone in Johnson City’s VA National Cemetery.wreaths2

Rolling Thunder Secretary Kay Nave said, “Every grave that is here in this cemetery tells a story… Some we may know and some we may not, but it is up to everyone to honor each of these graves and markers.”

Wreaths are $15 apiece and any donation is 100% tax deductible. You can donate to rolling thunder until thanksgiving. Make checks payable to Wreaths Across America and mail to P.O. Box 220 Mountain Home, TN 37684.
