Man accused in 2014 shooting death of King College student found guilty of second-degree murder

WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – A jury found a man accused in the 2014 shooting death of a local college student guilty of second-degree murder, assault and reckless endangerment.

News Channel 11’s Allie Hinds was in Washington County Criminal Court Thursday when the jury handed down the guilty verdict to Jamarcus Jackson.

Jackson was initially charged with first-degree murder in the shooting death of King College student Deshaun Greer in a Johnson City parking lot. 

Prosecutors and the defense wrapped up closing arguments Thursday morning and the jury deliberated for approximately four hours.

Jackson was scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 17, 2017.
