AUSTIN (KXAN) — Hundreds of University of Texas at Austin students are marching through downtown, Wednesday, following an election upset by President-elect Donald Trump. Students are currently on Congress Avenue moving north towards the State Capitol.

In a Facebook Live video by KXAN’s Alicia Inns, students marched quickly through downtown in the rain, passing City Hall and blocking the First Street Bridge over Lady Bird Lake, where they regrouped and voiced their strong opposition to Trump. City Council Member Greg Casar, reelected Tuesday, is in the protest march.

Students then looped around Riverside Drive and took a break on the Congress Ave. bridge, before heading north block by block.

Austin police are blocking off streets on the march’s route and a helicopter can be heard flying overhead.

Among the chants by the group were, “Donald Trump has got to go,” “Texas! Fight! Texas Fight!,” “Si se puede” (Yes we can), “A people united will never be divided” and “We shut s–t down.” Some at the front of the protest group were wearing face masks and carrying a Communist flag.
