Several Student Athletes Sign National Letters of Intent

TRI-CITIES — National signing day got underway around the country and several athletes in the area didn’t waste any time putting their name on the dotted line.
At Science Hill 2 members of their state tournament golf team signed national letters of intent.
Jack Rhea a 2-time co-player of the year and 2-time all-state selection signed a N-L-I with East Tennessee State University.
His teammate Garrett Whitfield who went to the state tournament 3 out of 4 years for the Toppers signed with Austin Peay. Both golfers are looking forward to the next level.
At Dobyns-Bennett this afternoon the Indians shortstop Parker Hill signed a national letter of intent with Wofford College. As a junior Parker batted 3rd with 50 hits, 2 home runs and .427 average
At Unicoi Co. this morning Shaddon Peavyhouse decided he’s headed to Myrtle Beach to play for defending national champion Coastal Carolina.
The Blue Devils shortstop and pitcher will join former Topper Matt Baird after he chose the Chanticleers over Clemson.
And finally congratulations to Trey Fields who signed a national letter of intent to play with college of Charleston. Trey did not play his junior year due to Tommy John surgery.
His sophomore year he pitched 52 innings with an era of 0.9. his record was 6-2 and he verbally committed to the school his sophomore year.
