NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – Dozens of students gathered Wednesday afternoon to protest the election of Donald Trump in across the city of Nashville.
“Hey hey, ho ho, Donald Trump has go to go” is one of the many chants the group shouted as they marched from the Tennessee State Capitol through Lower Broad.
At one point, the protesters stopped in the middle of Broadway and briefly sat down, raising their fists in solidarity as police officers held traffic at bay to keep them safe.
The students were holding various signs, some of which read “SELF LOVE,” “Raise Consciousness,” and “stay woke.”
The march then continued back to the state’s Capitol before heading down Charlotte Avenue, effectively shutting down portions of the road as police remained close to halt nearby drivers.
The students, primarily from Fisk University, continued their march up D.B. Todd Boulevard all the back to campus.
