Slight issue briefly disrupts voting at Johnson City polling location

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – A slight hiccup at a Washington County, Tennessee polling location had election officials scrambling to figure out what was wrong.

For a brief period, voting booths at Towne Acres Elementary in Johnson City were going dim, making it difficult for voters to see the screen.

But election official Bill Archer says they were able to find the problem and fix it almost immediately.

“We discovered that they were running on battery power only, because they have backup batteries in case there’s a power failure. So we switched them back to the regular power so everything’s up and running and we can see the text,” Archer said.

We’re told election officials were on hand for the 5 or 6 people that the dim lighting impacted to help them read the screen.
