WASHINGTON COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – Washington County Sheriff’s Office charged two people with felony child neglect after one of their kids wandered away from home and ended up in an adjacent neighborhood.

According to a WCSO news release, a homeowner on Bayless Road found the child wearing only a T-shirt and a diaper on her back porch.

The woman took the child home, but was unable to make contact with the child’s parents. She then called Sulphur Springs Scholl to contact the SRO.

The SRO responded to the scene and found the child had once again left the home without the parent’s knowledge due to them being asleep.

Deputies searched the area and found the child with the homeowner.

According to deputies, the child was wearing a T-shirt, was cold and was covered in feces.

Joshua Huff, 26, and Jaclyn Grindstaff, 24, of Jonesborough, were arrested and charged with felony child neglect.

Both Huff and Grindstaff were taken to the Washington County Detention Center, where they were being held on $10,000 each.

They were scheduled to be arraigned in Sessions Court Wednesday at 1:30 p.m.
