PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WATE) – Dollywood says this year’s Smoky Mountain Christmas will be better than ever.

The park started hanging up their four million light display in July.

“When you come into the park and see this atmosphere it is amazing,” said Wes Ramey with Dollywood.

“You understand why Dollywood has won the award for best Christmas theme park event in the entire world for nine years.”

The park is also going to debut a new parade.

They are also remastering Christmas in the Smokies to its traditional home at D.P.’s Celebrity Theater.

“Christmas is such a special time of year for me because some of my most precious memories are the wonderful times I had with my family during the holidays as a kid,” Dolly Parton said. “It’s the time of year when our traditions, along with our faith and the love of family, combine to create those sweet experiences we always remember. After all of the things I’ve been able to see and do in my life, it’s the times from those Christmases with my family I still hold most dear.”

Dollywood is also hosting their 5th annual “Light the Way” 5K on Friday, Nov.11 at 11:00 p.m.

Participants will get a a look at the unique race course, which winds through the light display. They will also get a light-up Rudolph the Reindeer Nose to wear while they run.

The race is open to runners and walkers. Registration is $30 and goes back to Keep Sevier Beautiful and Share It Forward.

Volunteers are still needed. For details visit Light The Way 5k’s website.
