Sam Haynie resigns as football coach at Sullivan South after 7 seasons

SULLIVAN CO. — News Channel 11 sports found out that Sullivan South is looking for a new head football coach after 7 seasons when Sam Haynie informed the school that he was stepping down.

Coach Haynie who spent 16 years with the school said it was time to spend more time with the family, although he has not ruled out the possibility being an assistant coach.
During his 7 years as head coach the Rebels went 46-32 and made the playoffs 5 times including winning the conference in 2014.
The next coach will inherit a program that finished (2-8) this past season.
