SULLIVAN COUNTY, TN (WJHL) – The Tri-Cities region is giving a final farewell to a local officer.
People are remembering the actions of a former Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office deputy, Robert Bowlin.
We first brought Bowlin’s story back in November 2006.
Bowlin was called to a crash and as he was helping two crash victims out of their cars, he was hit by a truck as he pushed a woman out of the way.
Doctors told him he could have been killed instantly, but Bowlin survived the crash.
Friends of Bowlin’s family said he died at a nearby hospital Monday because of complications from the injuries he received in the crash. He was 57 years old.
Friends and family members celebrated Bowlin’s life Thursday night in Kingsport.
Bowlin will be laid to rest Friday morning at Christian’s Bend Cemetery.
