JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Patients at Niswonger Children’s Hospital experienced the Halloween fun on Monday as the hospital was filled with costumes and candy.
Hospital employees and volunteers from the community set up booths with various themes where patients could dress up and Trick-or-Treat.
Kelly Statzer, the mother of one cancer patient, said the effort everyone put into the event meant a lot to her and her family.
“It’s amazing that everybody puts forth the effort for these kids,” Statzer said. “And not just a little effort but a lot of effort that goes forth to make something that he probably wouldn’t get to do otherwise.”
In the midst of a difficult season of life Statzer said this was a bright spot.
“It makes you kind of have a few moments to forget about what is going on in life and remember that he’s still a kid and to have some good quality of life.”
This is the sixth year Niswonger Children’s Hospital has held the Spooky Trail event.
