Commonwealth’s Attorney Chuck Slemp and Sheriff Ronnie Oakes revealed some details about Operation Autumn Harvest to the public on Wednesday morning.

According to law enforcement, these suspects are facing offenses such as prescription fraud, larceny distributing, possessing and manufacturing illegal narcotics, conspiracy to distribute, child endangerment, distributing drugs within 1000 feet of a school and even contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The operation was an extensive investigation by the Southwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force. They concentrated their efforts on the illegal drug activity in Wise County and the City of Norton.

“We call this, ‘Operation Autumn Harvest’. We believe in the principle of ‘You reap what you sow,” said Chuck Slemp from the Wise County Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. “These offenders have been profiting from manufacturing and selling dangerous and highly addictive drugs in our community. These drugs are resulting in violent crime, child abuse, elder abuse, thefts, and deaths. They too will reap what they sow.”
