JONESBOROUGH, TN (WJHL) – A nearly half-million dollar gift will help the arts continue to thrive in Tennessee’s oldest town.

The Mary B. Martin Center hosted a packed house to honor and thank Jim and Sonia King.

The couple’s $450,000 donation will be allotted to four different programs.

Those programs include the Jackson Theatre, the Jonesborough Repertory Theatre, and the International Storytelling Center.

Mrs. King is the daughter of Mary B. Martin, a long-time supporter of the arts across our region.

Martin’s name and legacy also live on at East Tennessee State University where the school of arts bears her name.
