WISE COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – A Wise, Va., man was charged with attempted murder and other crimes after the sheriff said a man was attacked at his home.
Wise County Sheriff Ronnie Oaks said Jermaine Christopher Johnson, 31, of Wise, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, attempted second-degree murder and attempted breaking and entering during the daytime.
Oaks said his deputies were called to a home on Fincastle Road on Monday to check out an attempted breaking and entering. The deputies found a victim who had been injured. The victim was at home when he heard someone trying to get inside. He confronted the man and was stabbed several times in his face and upper body.
The victim was treated and released from a local hospital.
Deputies located Johnson hiding behind a nearby trailer. A search of the area revealed “a large quantity of what appeared to be synthetic drugs, crystal methamphetamine, cash and a handgun,” according to the sheriff’s news release.
Johnson may face other charges once the drugs are analyzed by state forensics lab.
Johnson was being held without bond in the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield, Va.
