BRISTOL, TN (WJHL) – A juvenile who escaped from police while be transported from the juvenile detention center in Johnson City to juvenile court in Bristol is back in custody.
According to Bristol, Tenn. police, officers were taking the juvenile to juvenile court in Bristol. When the juvenile’s restraints were removed, he ran away from the officers.
Multiple officers ran after the juvenile, but they lost sight of him near Broad and 7th streets in downtown.
Officers then received a tip that the juvenile was nearby Anderson Park, where he was recaptured around 3 p.m.
The juvenile was in detention center on charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving without a license, due care and a couple of other charges.
Police said more charges will be added.
