BRISTOL, TN (WJHL)- Every year King University in Bristol collects and distributes hundreds of winter coats for children in need.
On Saturday people had the opportunity to drop by their campus and pick out a coat and a hat for children of all ages.
Last year, Julie McReynolds with King University, said they gave away close to 300 coats.
When we stopped by Saturday morning McReynolds said they had already seen more than 40 families come through the event.
We spoke to people like Tiffany Gregg who came with five children looking for coats.
“Its a pleasure, and it’s a gift that we get to come and let them pick it out, and they enjoy it, so we enjoy it,” Gregg said.
McReynolds said this is the 17th year King University has hosted the event.
“We keep coats in storage throughout the year, so if a family wasn’t able to come today they can always give us a call,” McReynolds said.
There were several community vendors on hand along with games families could participate in.
