HELENWOOD (WATE) – A Scott County man was indicted by a grand jury Tuesday after being shot by an officer.
Arthur Earnest Letner, 50, was indicted on charges for domestic assault, reckless endangerment and aggravated assault. Letner was arrested and is being held at the Scott County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
In July, the suspect was transported to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries after he was shot when four officers attempted to serve warrants.
“I saw three detective cars go in, so we knew something drastic was going on,” said a neighbor.
Investigators said Letner was hiding in a bathroom. As deputies approached the home, they said Letner came out of the bathroom holding what looked like a knife and charged.
Letner is expected to appear in court October 31.
