KNOXVILLE (WATE) – Six adults were arrested in East Tennessee as part of a national crackdown on child sex trafficking, according to the Knoxville FBI office.
Operation Cross Country X sought to locate exploited children in East Tennessee. None were found, but three women were referred to programs aimed at helping victims of human trafficking. Five women were charged with prostitution related violations and a man was picked up on outstanding warrants not related to prostitution.
The operation also helped identify potential pimps as part of an ongoing investigation.
Operation Cross Country is the FBI’s annual law enforcement action focused on recovering underage victims of prostitution and drawing the public’s attention to the problem. Nationally, 82 minors were recovered and 239 pimps and other individuals were arrested.
