KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Radio station WCQR and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee announced their partnership Monday morning for Project Thanksgiving.
This is the 9th year the two have teamed up to raise money for people in need this Thanksgiving.
They are asking community members to donate $25 to sponsor a Thanksgiving box that includes an entire Thanksgiving meal, including a turkey, that will feed an entire family.
Through community fundraising efforts online, over the phone, and during WCQR’s November 10th on-air fundraiser, they are hoping to feed more than 6,000 families in the Northeast Tennessee community.
“It really takes the community to help us…donate the funds, but also to volunteer here at Second Harvest the few days after the radiothon to get those boxes packed up,” said Rhonda Chafin, Executive Director of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee.
The food bank needs volunteers to help pack the boxes on November 11th and 12th.
If you want to help, donations are now being accepted.
You can call that same number, or email the food bank at firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to volunteer to pack boxes.
