WASHINGTON COUNTY, VA (WJHL) – Three years after the Washington County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation into Bristol Virginia Utilities, Commonwealth Attorney Joshua Cumbow says he is still considering where the case goes from here.
“I’ve met with some of our law enforcement today and we’ve continued to discuss various options,” he said.
That meeting comes on the same day the Virginia Auditor of Public Accounts released its review of BVU, in which it made more than 50 recommendations to reduce the risk of future corruption at the public utility.
So far, a federal investigation has resulted in the convictions of nine people.
