Elizabethton school leaders propose $4 million addition to TA Dugger

ELIZABETHTON, TN (WJHL) – Elizabethton school leaders are proposing a new 10,000 square foot addition to TA Dugger Junior High.

At Thursday night’s commission meeting, Director of Schools Corey Gardenhour presented his reasons as to why the addition is needed.

He said it will allow for easier access to all parts of the building, add new bathrooms and update the science classrooms, a program they’re heavily focusing on.

“It will allow us to attract more tuition paying students and also handle the overflow from our elementary schools that we currently have,” Dr. Gardenhour said.

Gardenhour said the tax money is already available for the estimated $3.5 to $4 million project. The project will also include eight new classrooms.
