JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The body found in a heavily damaged car on Sunday in Johnson City has been identified as a missing Carter County man.
Family members confirmed to News Channel 11, Bobby Russell was found dead on Sunday. This past weekend, officers found Russell’s car after it crashed into a wooded area off South Road Street.
Investigators believe the car had been there for several days.
The 61-year-old man was reported missing on September 27.
Police say identification and the car found at the scene match Russell’s but they’re waiting for finger print results to be certain.
Family members told News Channel 11 on September 30 that Russell had multiple medical issues, including heart problems and health problems related to diabetes. He was also dependent upon medical oxygen, which Russell’s nephew Chris Russell said he only had a two-hour supply of when he left.
