UT hosts roundtable seminar on economic growth in the Tri-Cities

JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Tri-Cities leaders took part in a roundtable discussion today aimed at brainstorming ideas to boost the region’s economy and job growth.

The University of Tennessee Institute for Public Service hosted the event at the Millenium Center in Johnson City.  The discussion focused on ideas to improve and grow our area’s economy.

Kingsport City Manager, Jeff Fleming, shared his take on what the city needs to do, long-term.

“We have a workforce that’s again and they’re going to have to be replaced, long term so we have to be a place that’s attractive for young professionals to continue to live or even choose to move here on their own,” Fleming said.

Organizers will take a look at the suggested ideas and share them with participants early next year.
