SEVIERVILLE (WATE) – Three juveniles charged in the rape of an Ooltewah High School basketball player last year learned their sentences Tuesday in a Sevier County courtroom.

District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn told WTVC-TV the 17-year-old main suspect in the case, who has been in custody, will remain so until November 21. The two 16-year-olds will serve an additional 60 days. They were already released on bond.

The three were found guilty of assaulting a former teammate with a pool cue during a team trip to Sevier County for a basketball tournament last December.

Gatlinburg Police Department said the 17-year-old boy raped a teammate with a pool cue while the two 16-year-old boys held the boy down. That player was sodomized with a pool cue and required hospitalization for a ruptured bladder, according to court documents. After the rape was reported, three other players said they had also been assaulted by upperclassmen and former members of the Ooltewah High School boys’ basketball team.
