JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – While some Republican leaders are dropping their endorsements for Donald Trump, some of his supporters here in the Tri-Cities are standing their ground.
“Who am I, I make mistakes every day. Can he be apologetic, and I waited for that apology and when I heard it and when I heard him apologize to his family and when he said the apology to the country you know I have to have forgiveness in that,” President of the Washington County, TN Republican Women Sharon Boreing said.
Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam is calling on Donald Trump to step down as the party’s presidential nominee so Mike Pence can face Hillary Clinton in November.
Boreing said she does not agree.
“I am disappointed in Governor Bill Haslam for doing this because I think this caused nothing but division. The people did speak and they spoke in a big way, you know it was not a close race,” Boreing said.
We also talked with local Trump campaign coordinator Kay White and Washington County Committeeman Kent Harris. They both say they still fully support trump.
