JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL)- Police have very few details to release after a body was found Sunday afternoon off South Roan Street in Johnson City.
According to Johnson City Police, someone walking by a storage facility on South Roan Street saw a car in a wooded area and called police.
Police were called just before 1:00 p.m. When they arrived they found a deceased person inside a heavily damaged car that they believe had been there for several days.
Police say further investigation reveals the car had been traveling north on South Roan Street. The car allegedly left the roadway on the right side of the road -striking a fence and a couple of trees.
Investigators hope an autopsy will help them positively identify the driver and the driver’s cause of death. They hope to release more details once they receive results from the forensic pathologist.
