JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – Dozens came out to the Legion Street pool Sunday to fish for a good cause.
The Johnson City Police Department hosted its annual Say Yes to Fishing Say No to Drugs Fishout this weekend.
Saturday kids up to age 14 could participate for free.
Sunday the community could fish for the remaining trout with a $10 donation per hour going into the Fishout program.
“That allows us to have a fund to start it off with next year,” said Sgt. Terry Hardin with the Johnson City Police Department. “Instead of waiting until the event I can start buying stuff. Actually next week I’ll start buying stuff for next year’s event.”
Hardin estimates donations will total between $500 and $700.
