Virginia State Police investigating fatal Scott County crash

SCOTT COUNTY, VA (WJHL) UPDATE: According to Virginia State Police, a 1996 Honda Accord traveling along Route 600 came into a curve and ran off the right side of the road. The Honda struck an embankment.

According to VSP, the driver, April L. Sloan O’Quinn, 27, of Duffield, Va., was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected from the vehicle. She died at the scene.

VSP said a male passenger was flown to Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport, Tenn., for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation at this time.

SCOTT COUNTY, VA (WJHL)- A female driver died Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in Scott County, according to Virginia State Police.

At 10:13 a.m., Virginia State Police Senior Trooper M.S. Brown responded to a crash on Ford Branch Road near Fairview Road in Scott County. According to VSP, a vehicle ran off the road, went down an embankment and in to a creek.

VSP said the female driver died at the scene. A male passenger was flown to Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport for treatment of life-threatening injuries, according to police.

State police are still in the process of notifying next of kin. VSP is investigating the crash at this time.
