BRISTOL (WJHL) – The public has yet another chance to weigh in on the propose Mountain State Health Alliance and Wellmont Health System merger.
The Tennessee Department of Health is hosting a Certificate of Public Advantage public hearing tonight in Bristol.
The hearing started at 5:30 p.m. at the Slater Center Auditorium.
News Channel 11’s Nate Morabito is at the public hearing tonight, where he said only a handful of people have signed up to speak about the pending merger.
Nate has reported that the first four speakers at the public hearing have all voiced their support of the formation of Ballad Health, and said only one speaker raised any concerns. He said the person spoke about ancillary services.
The Tennessee Department of Health has 99 days from today to make a decision about the proposed merger.
Just days ago, the Federal Trade Commission asked the Southwest Virginia Health Authority to deny the merger application citing some concerns. The FTC has not made the same request in Tennessee yet.
