Knox County to spray for mosquitoes after discovery of West Nile Virus

KNOXVILLE TN (WATE) –  Areas in Knox county will be sprayed after the discovery of cases related to the “West Nile Virus.”

The Culex mosquitoes with the virus were first discovered near West Emory road in Knox county.

The county will spray in that area on Thursday around 9 p.m.

Officials with Knox county hope that the spraying’s will reduce the mosquito population carrying the virus.

Knox county has suggestions for residents to prevent mosquito bites

Apply repellents to skin often, Wear long, loose, and light colored shirts and pants, Wear high socks, Dispose of or empty any water holding contains.

The following neighborhoods will be sprayed, West Emory Road (October 6), Fairmont Boulevard (October 13), Fourth Avenue (October 13), Milligan Street (October 18)
