KINGSPORT, TN (WJHL) – Kingsport is about to begin a project to refurbish its historic Church Circle.
The Downtown Kingsport Association is leading the revamping project.
Organizers said specific designs are not yet in place, but they plan to replace a crumbling brick curb and put in a new tree.
“This area right here is, it’s not where it should be,” said Downtown Kingsport Association Executive Director Sherri Mosley. “It deserves to be taken care of and brought more up to date.”
Mosley said the project will cost about $100,000. Most of the money is coming from Kingsport’s model city coalition fund, she said, but the DKA is also applying for grants.
Mosley said the construction will start and finish next year. She said she hopes to have the new circle complete by Christmas.
