Northeast State students hold solidarity event following interrupted Black Lives Matter rally at ETSU

BLOUNTVILLE, TN (WJHL)- Wednesday some students at Northeast State Community College showed support for East Tennessee State University students in what they called a “demonstration of solidarity.”

Last week, at a “Black Lives Matter” rally at ETSU was interrupted by a now former student dressed in overalls and a gorilla mask.

Wednesday, Northeast State students and staff we talked with said they held signs to encourage conversations on campus.

“A lot of tragedies are happening within the black community, just trying to kind of help everyone understand that we’re just trying to be a part of the country like everybody else,” Northeast State student Trevahn Censabaugh said.
