Johnson City Fire Dept. responds to house fire on Browns Mill Road


JOHNSON CITY, TN (WJHL) – The Johnson City Fire Department responded to a fire this morning at a home located in the 3400 block of Browns Mill Road.

The fire was reported around 11:00 a.m.

While crews worked to contain the fire, Browns Mill Road was closed in that block – temporarily- due to water hoses placed across the road by the fire department.

Fire officials told News Channel 11 the house was a rental property that was undergoing some improvements in between tenants.

An employee of the property owner was in the home at the time of the fire and reported the fire. The fire is believed to have started in the kitchen area and spread to the attic.

The home suffered 60% damage and thankfully, no one was injured.

A fire marshal is investigating the fire.
